This week The Trust Project and Tomo Magazine held their first News Reading Club meeting. They kicked the 3-day launch off with an industry salon where we connected with other news and media executives, an ethics workshop and connected with readers across Texas.
The News Reading Club drew a wide range of news readers, from news avoiders to avid readers of all backgrounds: artists, educators, reporters, athletes and more. We are proud to partner with Tomo Mags who have believed in our work from the beginning.

Austinites fear a dramatic change in the district’s culture after the sale of one venue and the listing of two others. The Red River Cultural District nonprofit is asking the city to create a cultural district overlay. Executive director Nicole Klepadlo said it would protect businesses on ‘Austin’s Music Mile’ through zoning tools.
Requests from the Israeli American Council have removed Macklemore from Ed Sheeran’s tour - Guardian
Venues at upcoming tour stops threatened to cancel Sheeran’s shows after Macklemore’s onstage pro-Palestine statements at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The Live Nation venues acted in response to the Israeli American Council’s petition. Four supporting acts have since dropped out in solidarity with Macklemore. The Associated Press outlined the hierarchy of tour decision-makers. At his Philly stop, Sheeran said on instagram he was concered over Live Nation venues’ ability to pre-approve performance content.

Gov. Greg Abbott has directed Texas water agencies to penalize data centers that fail to report their water use.
“Data centers must share the duty to protect Texas water,” Abbott said in a news release. He expects an update on enforcement by Oct. 14.
Texas law requires data centers to report their water use or face a Class C misdemeanor. But the Texas Water Development Board water board said it lacks the authority to enforce the requirement and does not track fines issued.
