Sex worker and writer Daphne Richards interviewed two adult entertainment professionals working primarily in online content creation. Performers Vix Eliote and Lacey Kennedy have varied entry points, niches and experiences as independent freelancers.

An oversaturated market where 90% of OnlyFans creators aren’t earning a living wage, Richards begins her conversations on the industry beginning with the day-to-day of content creators.

How long have you been creating erotic content?

Vix: I have been doing sex work for almost two years now.  I started in January of 2023.

Most memorable request from a client so far?

Vix: I’ve gotten a lot of requests that would be considered memorable in the “weird” way because the characters are not traditionally what you’d seen in porn, like cartoons & such but my most memorable custom was probably would probably be where I was just doing my laundry fully clothed where you can see my thong peaking out of my pants. That’s just like actually how I wear my pants bc I think it’s a cool style so I literally just got my laundry done and paid for it.

Do you experience burnout when churning out content if so, Do you take breaks?

Lacey: I do sex work part time. I work another part time job & I’m a mom as well. So for me, I have to stay organized & stick to a schedule or I go crazy and experience burnout. I can not take content everyday and I can’t post it everyday, I get lost. So I schedule 1-2 days a week and take A LOT of content.

Have you done other forms of Sex Work? Like camming, phone sex hotline, chat websites, etc if so how was the experience and money?

Lacey: I’ve tried just about everything besides full service. I personally hate camming on sites like chaturbate, it can make some money but you have to waste so much of your time to get it. I’m also a dom who is not nice and that’s usually not what the clientele on those sites wants.

Outro: The Adult Entertainment industry can be overwhelming. It’s a full-time job that consists of marketing, scheduling, working multiple jobs, wearing multiple hats to make ends meet. Some of us are mothers, sisters, co-workers, who enjoy living on the edges of society to make their money and don’t wish to be judged for doing so.
